Canon puts the power
of the computer at your fingertips.
Canon introduces the next major step forward in 35mm photography. The Canon T70, combining optical, mechanical and computer engineering that set it apart from any camera you have ever seen or handled.
It offers more automatic functions than other SLR's so it's easier to use. It offers more creative choices than other SLR's, so you can get better pictures. It provides more information than other SLR's, with an LCD readout of every function at your command.
THREE PROGRAMED MODES
The T70 gives you focus-and-shoot convenience plus creativity. For average subjects, the STANDARD program provides a well-balanced combination of shutter speed and aperture for proper exposure under a wide range of lighting conditions.
The TELE program emphasizes high speeds for action photography and to prevent blur with telephoto lenses. The WIDE program emphasizes small apertures to increase depth-of-field especially with wide-angle lenses. The LCD display always sows the exposure mode in use.

SHUTTER-PRIORITY AUTOMATION w/ SAFETY SHIFT™
Choose any desired shutter speed, from 2 seconds to 1/1000th sec. for complete control of action. Shoot fast to stop it, shoot slow for an intentional blur. The T70 sets aperture for proper exposure. Under extreme lighting conditions, the speed you've chosen may exceed the range of automatic control. As you deoress the shutter release button, a warning light will flash in the viewfinder, but if you can continue to shoot the Safety Shift™ feature will shift the speed to obtain proper exposure and save your shot.
DUAL METERING SYSTEM
Center-Weighted Average metering is ideal for most subjects. For backlit situations or anytime you need critical exposure measurement, the T70 also provides Selective Area metering, measureing only 11% of the viewfinder area outlined by the central circle. The AE LOCK allows you to hold the auto-exposure setting while you recompose.
FULLY AUTOMATIC FILM TRANSPORT
Insert the film cartridge, extend the leader and close the back cover--the T70's built-in Power Winder loads the camera and advances to the first frame.
The LCD readout shows film loading operations, ISO currently set and displays [1] when the T70 is ready to shoot. Film is advanced automatically after each shot, and you can shoot continuously at 1.2 fps. to follow action. Touch a button to rewind at the end of a roll.

ELECTRONIC CONTROL SYSTEM w/ LCD DISPLAY
No more knobs and levers--touch-button controls set ISO, exposure mode, shutter speed and control all functions. The LCD read-out constantly displays critical information and has a nonvolatile memory that retains data such as ISO setting, frame counter position, etc.. should batteries fail or be removed.
SPEEDLITE 277T* w/ TWO AE MODES
The Canon Speedlite 277T is our most advanced dedicated flash. For totally automatic Programmed Flash, just attatch it to the T70 and shoot as you would in daylight. Just before shutter release, the 277T emits anear-infared pre-flash to determine approximate flash-to-subject distance and selects the best of eight automatic ranges for good results.
You can choose from eight automatic f/stops (f2-f22) to select the
aperture you need to control depth-of-field. In either operating mode, the 277T sets both speed and aperture on the T70, and illuminates a "flash_on" signal in the viewfinder when fully charged.
COMMAND BACK 70

A combination data-back and intervalometer, the Command Back 70 features a built-in quartz calendar / clock for automatic recording of dates or time directly on your pictures. It also provides an interval timer, long timed release and self-timer operations. And all functions can be combined!
CANON FD LENSES
Incredible as the T70 camera is, perhaps its greatest advantage over other cameras you might consider is the line of over fifty Canon FD wide-angle, telephoto, zoom and macro lenses you can use with it, retaining all automatic functions.
